Did it accomplish anything? Probably not. Geldof masturbating with Africa, perhaps, but it was an interesting mix of artists. I watched a good piece of it on Saturday. Thoughts:

That Kanye West guy (or whatever his name is) that won 53 thousand Grammys last year that I've never heard before...is pretty damn talented.

On R.E.M.'s set: Something about the earpieces Michael Stipe was wearing, coupled with the bizarre blue makeup mask...makes him look like Batman. Or perhaps some kind of ranking officer in an army of Scottish Vulcans.

So...Pink Floyd. They played Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here, and Comfortably Numb. During Comfy, some little irritant from MTV Europe started talking, and then so did her irritant cohart from VH1. Further proof that both of these channels need to fucking go away. There is no respect for the artform they claim to carry the flag for.

I wonder how many people will be selling DVDs on eBay after the show. Making money off someone else's attempt to do something entertaining.
