George Harrison Anniversary

Five years ago today, cancer took The Quiet One at the age of 58.

When it happened, his wife and son said: "He left this world as he lived in it, concious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends."

Just try to find "Give Me Love" on YouTube. Not happening. So here's my other favorite...

A legend dies.

Former Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler collapsed during the taping of a television show and three TV stations have reported that he has died.

Latest details...

You should not be permitted to be a football fan if you don't have at least a little respect for the man, or toast him at some point this weekend.

New Nats Skipper

MANNY ACTA NAMED NATIONALS NEW MANAGER

The Nationals officially named Manny Acta their new manager at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Acta, who becomes the second skipper in Nationals history, replaces Frank Robinson.

This will be Acta's first managerial job in the Major Leagues. He spent the last two seasons as the Mets' third base coach and three years with the Expos in the same capacity from 2002-04. Acta has managed in the Dominican Winter League, and he was also the Dominican Republic's skipper in the inaugural World Baseball Classic last spring.

Acta began his coaching/managerial career in the Astros organization. Acta started as a coach for Class A Asheville in 1992. The next season, he made his managerial debut with Auburn in the New York-Penn League, and he guided the team to the NYPL championship series in 1994. Then, he had a stint with Class A Kissimmee and guided the team to its first Florida State League championship in 1999, before moving up as a coach with Triple-A New Orleans in 2001.

Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen

I'm not much of a "picture is worth a thousand words" kinda guy, given that I write.

But this one says a ton.
